Opening Up About My Faith

Before college, I was very private about my faith. My family and a select few friends were the only people I talked about it with, and even then, I was reserved. Looking back on it, that wasn’t fully honoring my faith. Jesus commanded his followers to evangelize, so if I wish to be faithful, I need to share my faith with others. I didn’t use to talk about my faith because it scared me and made me feel stressed and awkward. It was in college that I realized it doesn’t have to be this way. The first few times one of my close friends asked me about my faith, I felt very awkward talking about it and wanted the conversation to be over quickly. However, I eventually had this realization that talking about it can be just as natural as talking about my other passions in life. I recognized that I have discovered this wonderful gift, and I want my friends to experience that joy too. Now, my friends and I talk about Christianity openly and quite frequently. By sharing, I not only bring others closer to Christ, but I also strengthen my own faith in the process. Talking about all of the wonderful things God has done and does makes me fall in love with Him all over again, and it is a really good feeling to see that same thing happen in those I love most.
