Twenty-four hours is how much time we have in a day. Twenty-four hours seems like a lot of time, but in reality, it goes by in the blink of an eye. Everyday we have twenty-four hours to make a difference, live our lives, and accomplish the world. If today happened to be your last twenty-four hours on this earth would you say you have lived them to the fullest and through God.

So often our lives are twenty-four hours full of bickering and arguing over irreverent topics or indulging ourselves in our phones living through others lives, or even us scheduling out an hour by hour day. I am not sure about you, but for me, I often feel that I find myself filling my twenty-four hours of the day with everything but God. I have been trying to wake up every morning and read a section of the bible, which takes me on average ten to fifteen minutes. These ten to fifteen minutes are sometimes the only minutes I spend with God in my twenty-four hours and honestly, I know it’s not enough. I have realized that I tend to stare at my life and glance at God. I know I need to try harder to find God in the small moments and to thank Him for the big moments. I know it is my duty to seek Him out when I am happy, or when I need to vent, or even just when I need to clear my mind and be still with Him.

Why do we find it so easy to spend our twenty-four hours on our phones, socializing with our friends, and watching the television?

Why do those things come so easy and natural to us, but filling our time with God is so difficult?

I believe that God wants to challenge us to go towards Him and to look to Him in every moment of the day. God challenges us every day to fill our twenty-four hours with Him. He wants us to each, individually find Him, and give our lives over to Him. He wants us to turn away from the busyness of our everyday lives and to open our hearts and minds to his greatness.

“Open my eyes, so that I may see the wonderful truths in your law.” Psalm 119:18

From this day forward I plan to seek God throughout the twenty-four hours He has given me to enjoy small moments and to appreciate the big moments. Through God we can find the important things to focus on in life and turn away from things that do not matter.
