A tree has a life span of one hundred years to one thousand years. A trees death is pretty uncertain due to catastrophic events that can take place, only God knows the time a tree will be taken. The interesting thing about trees though is they change every year. An average tree has around 175-225K leaves on it. In the midst of Autumn fall the leaves change color and fall off every year. Right now I am currently in Meadville, PA in my fourth and final year of college at Allegheny. The foliage we are witnessing and experiencing this year is leaving an everlasting impact on my life. Since this is my last year at Allegheny I had decided to capture the small, simple, pure, and beautiful moments of fall that God has created.
As I walked around campus this morning after work I gazed into the sky to say good morning to Our Lord. I took in the smell of the air, the blueness of the sky, and the colorful leaves that hung from the trees. All of the trees were unique and different, some were green still yet to be changed, others were a crisp red, various were bright tangy orange, some as yellow as the sun, numerous trees with leaves that were already brown, and a few that were left bare. I watched as leaves would fall from the trees, take flight into the sky, and then fall amongst the others that lain on the ground. This led me to a simple thought, God gave every leaf a purpose in this world. Have you stopped to witness a leaf fall from a tree?
I believe our lives are a lot like leaves.
Every leaf has a purpose. Every leaf has a life. Every leaf leaves a mark in this world.
Just like leaves are a part of a tree, we are a part of God’s family. Just like trees we can have a life span that is uncertain, it can last for a second or a hundred years. Although our time here is uncertain and only God knows when it is our time for His Kingdom, he has given us this time to live like leaves. Like leaves that obey their master the tree we are servants that follow God. As trees lose their leaves every year, they are able to make a difference on this earth. When leaves fall from their trees they take a small part of love, hope, and beauty from their tree and embedded it into different areas of earth. Every year we too change and shape into the people God has created us to be. As a tree changes every year and its leaves take flight and make a difference on the earth we too have the same capability to make a difference in others lives everyday. Every time we talk to some we leave an impact on their life. Every time we take action in this world we make a choice to stand for what we believe in. Every time we pray to God we make the decision to surrender our lives to Him. Leave your mark like leaves do with love, hope, and beauty. We should live lives as followers of faith and servants of God. Every action we take, every word we speak, every encounter we experience on earth is a chance for us to spread the Goodness of the Lord. Everything we do should be through God. It is our duty to live Christian lives, to love unconditionally, treat others the way we want to be treated, to give hope to the hopeless, and to give faith to the faithless.
