In Control

As I sit at my desk thinking of a blog post to write, the song “In Control” by Hillsong Worship plays on my Spotify and it got me thinking. What is something we desperately need to hear amidst all the chaos in the world? It’s simply that God is in control and has a greater plan/purpose for our world. It’s so easy to get wrapped up with the constant news that we are bombarded with daily. It’s various tweets and posts about all the violence and hatred taking place in our own country along with the global pandemic we are facing. It’s clear to me that the devil is trying to work so hard to tear families, communities, our country and even world apart. Like many, I have been feeling very scared and anxious about the state of our world, wondering when this will all end. But rather than worrying and being anxious about it all, how about we lean on God now then ever before. How about we pray harder and understand that Gods got this. For Isaiah 35:4 says, “Be strong, do not fear; your God will come, he will come with vengeance; with divine retribution he will come to save you.” It is in times like these that our faith will truly carry us through it.

So, I am here to remind you that even in the eye of the storm, God remains in control. He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. He tells us to give it all to him, lay your fears, worries, joys, etc. at the foot of the cross. He didn’t send his son to die on the cross for nothing. It is thanks to Jesus that we can lay it all before him and ask for help. Our Lord lives in and through us, never forget the power we have because of him.

With all this being said, it isn’t always easy to fully put your trust in God. But just because it’s not easy doesn’t mean it’s not worth it. It’s beyond worth it. There is something so powerful about letting go and knowing that we are not in control. Prayer is powerful and when you are feeling a mix of emotions, I encourage you to give it to God in prayer and let him take control.

The same power that rose Christ from the dead, lives in you!
